For Windows

1. Download the John Q screensaver by clicking on the PC link. A dialog box should appear asking you where to save the file. Choose to save the file on your desktop (c:\Windows\Desktop\ ) for most people. Once you have done this and the file is finished downloading, locate the icon on the Desktop. Proceed to unzip the file and Double click it once it's done to install. You should see a small message that indicates: "Screen Saver Installed". Now you can enjoy the screensaver.
2. To change your screensaver: Open the Display Settings control panel (Start Menu\Control Panel) and double click the "Display" icon. Under the Screen Saver tab you may adjust the time until the screensaver activates and also the screensaver you are currently using.
3. You may delete the installer after completing these steps.

For Macintosh

1. The John Q screensaver file will download to your desktop unless otherwise specified. You'll need a program such as Stuffit Expander to decompress the screensaver file before it can be used (your browser may decompress the file for you automatically).
2. Once the screensaver is decompressed, simply copy the John Q file to your Control Panels folder and restart your Mac. The Control Panel folder is located in your system folder.
3. Once your computer has restarted, open the John Q control panel to activate the screensaver and adjust your settings.
4. Please Note that some anti-virus programs may conflict with the John Q screensaver. If an alert dialog box appears during installation, click the REMEMBER button and allow the install to proceed. After restarting your computer, open the John Q Screensaver control panel (by accessing the apple menu). Set the "minutes of no activity" to 1, close the control panel and wait for the screensaver to become active. If the alert dialog box appears, click the REMEMBER button again (it may happen twice). At this point, you can reset the timing in the control panel to your own liking.
